background

My name is June. I am a freelance music producer, DJ, sound engineer, and web developer currently based in Philly. I help out with live audio mixing and event booking at a DIY space called the Kennel. I have been regularly using Ableton Live for 7 years, and am also proficient in Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, and Audacity. I have worked with different PA systems in rooms of all shapes and sizes to manage live audio mixing for events.

As a DJ, I have had experience working within many different genres, tempos, and environments. In the past, my sets have leaned into hardstyle, breakbeat, techno, and other similar uptempo genres; I would often work between 150 and 180 bpm. Lately, it is most common for me to spin a blend of garage, electro house, jersey club, hip hop, and dubstep; usually between 120 and 140 bpm. I have been regularly performing in basements, living rooms, record stores, and raves since 2018.

approach to design

I take pride in my do-it-yourself ethic. Limitation breeds creativity, and I've always found it more rewarding to learn every step of a creative process I'm interested in rather than outsource the work.

  • The use of sound to aid in physical, emotional, and spiritual exercise.
  • Personal computers as a tool with which to assist human creativity.
  • Earnestly approaching ideas others may dismiss as juvenile or low-brow and reusing them in experimental and emotionally mature contexts.
  • Shattering my mind's eye with inspiration from opposite angles and keeping the pieces in neat boxes.
  • Software, webpages, and screenplays that have all the fat trimmed; everything should look great and supply information simultaneously, even in the least ideal environment.
